Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda has the greatest bio diversity of any game park in Africa.
In the 1920’s there were more elephants than villagers and they were destroying crops causing a great deal of damage.
A department was set up find a way to protect both the people and the animals. Queen Elizabeth National Park was established with changes to the geography and conservation paramount.
Queen Elizabeth National Park lies in the western rift valley. Combined with Kyambura and Kigezi reserve, the National park has an area of 2475 sq km's. Its temperature varies from 18 to 28 degrees Centigrade and due to the rainy seasons the best time to visit this park is between December and February. A 3 day itinerary enables you to see most of the attractions in the National Park.
There are varied habitats within the park including savannah, wetlands, riverside and low land forests. The Park is largely dominated by water, 250 sq kms are lake lands including Lake George and Lake Edward. A trip to the Kazinga channel and Ishasha river allows you to see various birds and mammals and wildlife at its best.
Queen Elizabeth park is bordered to the North by the Mountains of the Moon, the Rwenzori Mountains and to the West by Lake Edward. The park has two Sectors, North and South.
